Pediatric oncology experts are called upon to consult and testify in litigation regarding the diagnosis and treatment of life threatening malignancies. Diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, Kevin Tvenstrup has filed a lawsuit against aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney. This comes seven years after the Florida Health Department declared a pediatric cancer cluster in the Palm Beach County community, The Acreage. Twenty- four year old Tvenstrup lived more than ten years in The Acreage.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced on April 2, 2010, that results of water sampling in The Acreage community “showed no indication of agricultural or industrial contamination in the water and water quality is considered to be good.” However, the plaintiff’s attorney argues that the agency failed to properly test for specific radioactive contamination.
Over twenty lawsuits have been filed against Pratt & Whitney over cancer concerns. Pediatric oncology expert witnesses are trained to diagnose and treat children and teens with cancers including leukemias, lymphomas, brain tumors, bone tumors, and solid tumors. They are also qualified to consult and testify in the most challenging cases involving young people with cancer.
